Mega-Stressed Out

The title says it all. I'm crazy stressed, and a lot of it is of my own doing. Here's why:
  1. Work. If I just had to work with the kiddos, things would be great. It's the adults and pseudo-adults that make me wacky.
  2. Lots of home stuff to do, and no energy.
  3. No appreciation of what I do.
  4. Exhaustion and then misusing my free time.
  5. No exercise.
  6. Facebook. Why am I friends with people from high school that I hate? Do I really need to know about how my mean ex-roommate who wouldn't let me use the space in her DEEP FREEZE just finished the marathon? Especially when I'm on restriction from physical activity???
  7. Infertility. IVF coming soon. It's sure to be a suck-fest. Oh yeah, and I'm supposed to stay positive.
  8. All of my friends are getting pregnant.
  9. All of my online infertility friends are getting pregnant. A lot of them are having miscarriages. I'm scared for them, and I feel bad that I'm happier when they get pregnant than I am for my friends IRL.
  10. Family stuff. I'm kind of too scared to blog about this and regret it later.
  11. I'm pretty sure I'm coming down with the flu.
  12. I don't know what to cook for dinner.
  13. DH likes TV and computer games a little too much.
  14. I need to take more time for myself. Heck. I'm logging off and going for a bike ride.

Changing Focus

I've decided to change some of the focus of this blog. Unfortunately for my dear readers, who don't really exist at this point, it's about to become a lot more snarky. There are just a lot of things that annoy and piss me off, and I need to find a way to get all of the ugliness out of my system.

The overall focus, though, will continue to be on making a home for my family. And, frankly, my home can be as perfect as it can be, but if I'm crabby, it's a pretty impossible place to be. I'm hoping this blog will help serve as an outlet, prioritizer, and perhaps a way to connect with new friends who are feeling the same stuff.

3 Miles Down

It. Is. Hot.

Wow. It's like summer appeared out of nowhere. This is making it a bit more challenging to do some good running, but I'm happy to report that I did 3 miles today! Yay!

I'm doing Hal Higdon's Novice Half-Marathon training program since I haven't run in ages. My 3-miler was supposed to be tomorrow, but I'm going to have visitors, so I thought it would be a good idea to get it out of the way.

Glad that's over!

Office Area Cleaned

So, no real improvements yet, but the decluttering is done. Now I've got to think of something to do to make the area look a little less 80s blah. Click here to see the "before" pic.

Here's a pic of all of the stuff I'm throwing out. Yikes! I've got to get better about paper clutter:

Need to Clean this Office!

My office is a disaster. I used to like working in here, but now it's a total buzz kill because of the clutter and the yucky colors. There's not much I can do about the dusty rose paint and cabinets, but I think I may be able to brighten things up with some decluttering and white accessories. This is the before picture. Hopefully later today I'll be able to post some good updates!

Dodging the Hail

I'm slowly warming up for day one of half-marathon training (starting next Monday!), so I decided to go for a run on this trail near our house.

I am NOT used to running in unpopulated areas, so I was really freaked out. I had my mace ready to go at any minute, and I was totally paranoid the whole time. Plus, there were tons of huge puddles all around, so I ended up walking quite a bit so I could maneuver around the water without getting my shoes wet. I probably won't do the trail again by myself, but I'm proud that I went out and made an attempt today. I ran/dodged puddles for 50 minutes!

I drove back to the house, got myself a glass of water, and it started to hail. I'm so lucky that I didn't get stuck out on the trail during a hailstorm.

Adding Color to Living Room

Our living room is a whole lot of brown, as you can see above. I bought some cheapy pillows at Target, and here's the result:
